WORK PACKAGES – Term 1, Week 9 The following Work Package has been created to assist children at home with their learning.
Home Learning In wake of the recent events, the Education Department has set up an online site called 'Learning at Home,' for those at home during these times. Resources are available across all Year Levels and many Learning Areas . You can access the site from this link here https://www.education.wa.edu.au/learning-at-home Furthermore, I encourage all children to continue to read books from home every night. Keep up with the reading; as much as possible. It is so important. Please also log into Studyladder – https://www.studyladder.com.au/ . This website has a variety of Literacy and Numeracy activities that are linked to what we have been learning this Term in Room 28. The student’s passwords will be posted on the emailed to each parent as well as glued into the side of their Practice Time book, if they have been at school. Check in regularly at the WGPS blog and Room 28’s blog as we are currently investigating some other useful sites and resources for home learning.

Term 1 Science

This term for Science we have been learning all about Chemical Science! This is the science of what things are made of, how they are mixed and how they react (change). We have also been investigating that things on the earth can be known as solids, liquids and gases. Yesterday we conducted an experiment to see what happened when we froze water, milk and tea. We discovered that these liquids turn into solids because we added a very cold temperature. Next, we had to predict which ice block would melt the fastest. We had a lot of different answers in class, but we found that the water ice block melted the fastest only taking 12 minutes! We realised that when we added heat to a solid like ice it then melted to become a liquid again. This is known as a physical change and one that is reversible! To follow up on this experiment at home, you may wish to conduct your own melting and freezing experiments! Or you could ask us some questions to help build our knowledge such as: Can you
